ABOUT THE PROJECT:
Telling this story required multiple days of shooting, at a Minneapolis fire station, the Mayors office, firefighter ride alongs, and building a set of a residential home, in an active training facility. What does it take to make this happen? Inspired by the rigor and focus firefighters apply to their trade, we made sure to do the same with our craft. Dozens of hours doing location scouting, writing scripts, storyboarding, and designing and building a set that we would only burn to the ground, all went up in smoke, just as we planned it!
Multiple cameras, a dedicated lighting team and some long days were all on tap for our production. This time the sweat on our brows came not from only running with a stedicam, but the near lick of flames. But you know what they say, if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen! This video was baked at 1,100° degrees for a good cause.
After many days of shooting with intense heat, it was a reprieve to spend 80 hours in the edit suite building the story, the reality, the heroes on both sides of the fire live.
The ability to work so closely with the fun loving and dedicated members of the multiple fire departments we worked with was only second to the good we knew a fantastic production would do for those who have faced the challenge of rebuilding a life after becoming a burn survivor. We can all say we are truly inspired by the bravery by all who volunteered to share their time talents and story with us on this film and truly grateful to have been apart of it.
The video debuted at the record breaking 2019 Red Tie Gala Event! The event saw more than 900 guests and volunteers, who raised over $750,000 for burn survivors and firefighters!
