Google Video Preview

This just in: Google is making another handy update for mobile users! As things continue to get more and more visual, Google has announced that they will now be trying to help you out even more in your search endeavors. What this means is that instead of just having text snippets as part of your search, there will now be video previews. Silent six-second video clips will help you find what you are looking for, faster

According to an article posted on Tech Crunch,

Google GIF“This will work for the vast majority of videos on the web today — including, but not limited to, YouTube. Indeed, as Emily Moxley, Google’s director of product management for this project, told me, any video on the web is eligible for inclusion, though Google may not have a preview for some of the newest videos available yet because it takes the servers a bit of time to build the previews.”

“For now, this feature is only available on mobile, both through the Google app and in Chrome. It’s not available on the desktop yet. A Google spokesperson argued that this is because the company now focuses on its mobile users, though I can’t think of any major limitation of the desktop platform that would prevent the company from rolling this out across all platforms.”

So, not only is this great as a consumer or for somebody trying to learn how to tie a tie, but it means a lot for marketing your products. This new video preview feature is just another reason for companies to be utilizing video as part of their marketing strategy. Consumers are being shown videos through so many outlets, it just makes sense to be reaching them that way. Not only should you be using video, but it should look good. Sure, you can use your iPhone to make a video and it will still reach your audience, but what does it say about your brand? Does the video match your proudct’s high quality, or does a low resolution video with poor audio turn your consumer off? Well, thats a whole other conversation for another time, until then, happy googling!
